Tollywood Calling for AFS Alumnus

T Nagarjuna describes himself as a budding actor.  In addition, he is an assistant director and an upcoming cinematographer. His shoot locations are varied from Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, to other locales in the city and across Telangana.

Perhaps its divine calling and Nagarjuna seems to have got the right break and at the right time. Today, Tollywood (Telegu film industry) is the toast of the town and has created cinematic waves globally with Naatu Naatu (from the blockbuster RRR) in the recent past.

On his part, Nagarjuna essayed a comic role in Maa Inti Bangaram, a Telegu action comedy drama that was released recently with Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead role. Other projects under the wraps include an untitled film under the direction of Sai Babaa and the highly anticipated upcoming flick, Samavarthi, starring Satyadev Kancharana in the lead role.

T Nagarjuna lived in the Tiruvikrama Bala AIM for Chatralayam for Boys, Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh, for 3 years, from 2010 till 2013. He joined the hostel after he completed class 10 and finished his three year mechanical diploma while living in the Gudivada boarding residence.

Funnily, at that time, Nagarjuna had no big ambition and he was actually clueless about what to do next. His hometown is 60 kms away from the Gudivada Chatralayam, in Krishna district. “From the very beginning, my mother has supported me in whatever I did. I came to know about the Gudivada Chatralayam  after seeing an advertisement in the paper. I decided to enrol in the hostel as the financial condition back home was precarious,” recollects Nagarjuna.

Nagarjuna credits his entire success to Swami Sthyrayanandha Saraswati, the coordinator of the Tiruvikrama Bala AIM for Chatralayam for Boys, Gudivada. “Life is like a chain. If I had missed the AIM for Seva Chatralayam exposure during my formative years, my link would have not been as strong as it is now. Though I was a bit uncomfortable during the initial hostel days, my thinking changed for the better after the Chatralayam years at Gudivada,” declares Nagarjuna.

Lights, camera, action. May your chosen path bring you fame and glory, Nagarjuna. Wishing you the very best.
