Age is no bar when it comes to giving back to the girl child. Recently, a girl studying in Sishya School, Chennai, came forward and raised funds for the Bhavani Arun AIM for Seva Chatralayam for Girls, Chinnasalem, Tamil Nadu, via a bake sale.
“I have visited Manjakkudi (the birthplace of our Founder, Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati) and I have seen a Chatralayam (Swami Dayananda AIM for Seva Chatralayam for Girls, Sembangudi, Tamil Nadu) located in close vicinity. My grandmother is actively involved with AIM for Seva for over 20 years now. Though I have not visited the Chinnasalem Chatralayam, what came to my mind was to give the girls of my age a chance to education and better life via the bake sale,” says this young donor.
And so she got into the baking act and dished out her signature blondies that were completely sold out at the Old Madras Baking Company, TTK Road, Chennai on 27th March 2021.
But it wasn’t a cake walk from start. “I baked several versions to get the blondies just right,” reveals the young girl.
The bake sale also opened the doors to the world of accounting, costing, and customer relationship management to the school goer from Sishya. “I learnt a lot like how to calculate profit depending on cost of the raw material and the sale price. It was exciting to see my poster in the store and I got to meet a few customers too.”
The young donor wants to continue her support for the girl children in rural India, a cause that is extremely dear to her heart. “I would like young kids, especially rural kids to have access to healthcare and education,” she concludes.
Thank you for your thoughtful gesture!!!
