Five Day Heritage Camp

Twenty five students from the Swami Dayananda College of Arts & Science, Manjakkudi, Tamil Nadu, recently participated in a five day Vedic heritage camp at the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Anaikatii, Tamil Nadu.

At the inaugural session, Swami Sadatmananda Saraswati ji gave the introductory lecture. The camp was conducted under the guidance of Swamini Satya Varadananda Saraswati ji. The daily sessions started off with prayers and a special pooja to the residing deity, Medha Dakshinamurthy.

Sri. Mahesh ji conducted interesting sessions on yoga, devotional and patriotic songs. Swamini Satya Varadananda delivered lectures on topics such as Vedic Heritage, Bharat, Ramayana and Mahabharata.

The students enjoyed Brahmacharini Arathi’s discourse on Gita. In between, the college goers spent time at the gallery, and library and meditated at the meditation centre in the Ashram. They looked forward to the quiz sessions every evening.

Seva work was another highlight with the students cleaning the temple of Muruga spontaneously and enthusiastically on day two of the camp.

The idea of a Vedic camp for the students was conceived by the Chairperson and Managing Trustee of the organisation, Ms. Sheela Balaji. It was put together by Sri. M.G. Srinivasan and Dr. V. Hema, correspondent and principal of the college.

At the valedictory session on 28th May 2022, there was a photo session with Swami Sadatmananda Saraswati ji. The students also visited Isha Yoga Centre at Coimbatore and had a darshan of Adhi Yoga.

In all, it was an enriching five day sojourn where the students imbibed self confidence and spiritual awareness and gained knowledge on the heritage and culture of the land.
