On 25th July 2026 the stage came alive with Radha, Krishna and the Sakhis. Acclaimed dancing duo, Sri. Shijith Nambiar and Ms. Parvathy Menon along with renowned flautist, Sri. Pravin Godkhindi held the audience captivated for over 120 minutes at the Sri. Mutha VenkataSubba Rao Concert Hall , Harrington Road, Chennai.
This was the third cultural fundraiser presented by AIM for Seva in support of Swami Dayananda Krupa Care. The show’s proceedings began with a warm welcome speech by the Chairperson and Managing Trustee of the organisation, Ms. Sheela Balaji.
In her address, Ms. Sheela Balaji highlighted that while we see facilities for children with developmental delays like occupational therapy, what happens when such children morph into adults? “Many of them become invisible members of society, not heard, nor seen. Around the same time, parents of such children get on in their age,” stressed the Chairperson. To answer that terrifying prospect of “Who After Me?” Swami Dayananda Krupa Care was founded by Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati himself in 1998. The Chairperson also shared that the products in the hampers given to the audience were individually crafted with love and care by each of the residents at Krupa for the fundraiser evening.
In his speech, Sri. R.V. Giridhar, chief executive officer of Swami Dayananda Krupa Care gave a sneak peek into a day at Krupa and how our residents were meaningfully engaged in various pursuits.
Post the inaugural speeches, the heart warming film on Krupa Care captured the true essence of the project. It was now time for the show to begin, Radha—The Epitome of Devotion.
In the opening segment, the aesthetically designed cradle captivated the hearts of the audience. As per folklore, Radha is older to Krishna and her bringing in a simple peacock feather for her beloved Krishna when compared to the other lavish gifts showered on the baby bedstead signified the central theme of the narrative that Bhakti or devotion transcends everything.
The show stealers were Kalinga Narthana and the lifting of the Govardhan by Krishna in his little finger. The flute maestro, Sri. Pravin Godkhindi and the accompanying musicians, Sri. Vamshi (Indian percussion) and Sri. Anoor Shyam (Mridangam) received a thunderous applause for the two rounds of Tani Avartanam (a segment where the musicians show their technical and creative prowess) in between the dance musical.
Proceeds from Radha—The Epitome of Devotion would be utilised towards creation of a new laundry block at Swami Dayananda Krupa Care. The simple activities of handling loads, washing, ironing and folding will go a long way in skill building, independence and active participation by Krupa residents in day to day activities.
This structured laundry unit will add another dimension for the residents to express themselves. In due course of time, the scope would be expanded and this ergonomically designed structured space is set to evolve as an institutional set up that is expected to provide opportunities for income generation for the residents through active participation and effort.
