G. Mohan, an alumnus from the Tiruvikrama Bala AIM for Seva Chatralayam for Boys, Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh, shares his Chatralayam years. He joined the Gudivada Chatralayam when he was in Class 7. Even though he has completed his education and employed now, G. Mohan continues to remain associated with AIM for Seva. He has evolved into a meaningful contributor and shares his story with us.
“Hari Om, my name is G. Mohan. I joined the Tiruvikrama Bala AIM for Seva Chatralayam for Boys, Gudiwada, Andhra Pradesh, in July 2009. From then until now, I am living and studying in this Chatralayam. They are taking good care of me and helping me with all that I need. I am now in the final year of my B.Tech – Electrical Engineering. I finished my 10th standard in 2013. After I completed my Class 10, Swami
Sthairyananda Saraswati ji helped me get admission into a diploma course. After I finished my diploma, Swamiji helped me get a job in Nallagandla Hydro Power Plant. I worked there for one year. While working there, I decided that I would not stop with the diploma but would go on to do my B.Tech. When I conveyed this to Swamiji, he supported me and helped me with getting admission in B.Tech Electrical Engineering in V.K.R, V.N.B & A.G.K College of Engineering in Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh. He also allowed me to stay on in the Chatralayam and pursue my studies.
In July 2019, I began my final year. In November 2019, I got selected through campus recruitment for a job in Johnson Lifts, but the offer did not go through due to the corona virus pandemic. Now, in June this year, after I completed my degree, I got a job at Aravind Villas, a Hyderabad-based construction company. I am going to join the company soon.
I come from a very poor family. After I came to the Gudivada Chatralayam, I was given all the facilities to study and do well. I have been living in this Chatralayam for 12 years now, and have benefited from it greatly. I learnt so many good things about how to live, interact with people and conduct myself.
I am very thankful to AIM for Seva for giving me this opportunity and helping me over these 12 years to study and come to a good level in life. I am eternally grateful to all those who made this possible for me – Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati and Swami Sthairyananda Saraswati. My humble pranams to both of them. I will never forget them for as long as I live. I met Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati when he visited our Chatralayam in 2011, and I was very lucky to receive his blessing as well. I thank the Chairperson of AIM for Seva and all the donors who have made this possible.
As a gesture of gratitude for all that I have been given, I am going to contribute 50% cent of my first month’s salary to AIM for Seva in the name of my Chatralayam, and give the other 50% to my mother and father. I will also give Rs. 1,000 every month for the rest of my life to AIM for Seva in the name of my Chatralayam.”
