A Dream to Make it to the School Honours Board

Logeshwari who scored 84.8% in the recent Class 10 board examination and stood 2nd in her school is from the Atmalaya Swami Dayananda AIM for Seva Chatralayam for Girls,Udumalpet, Tamil Nadu.

On the eve on her board examinations, Logeshwari shared details of her preparation and how AIM for Seva shaped her.

“Namaste. My name is Logeshwari. I am from Dharmapuri and currently living and studying at the Atmalaya Swami Dayananda AIM for Seva Chatralayam for Girls, Udumalpet, Tamil Nadu.

I have been in this hostel for 6 years now, Class 5 to 10. Both my parents are illiterates. My father is a driver while my mother is a homemaker. I am a first generation learner from my family. I scored 80% in my Class 10 half yearly examination. After that, I scored 85% in the first revision.

The reason for my success is the home where I am living ( Udumalpet Chatralayam) and our coordinator Maaji (Swamini Gurupriyananda Saraswati ji).  During the half yearly preparatory leave, my hostel coordinator ensured that I had access to model question papers and also ensured that I had adequate writing practice. I would have a tendency to leave one mark questions. But the model exam practice ensured that I attempted all questions. Some of the questions in the model papers appeared in the first revision. This enabled me to get 5% more in the revision exams.

I am happy that students like me have got access to education and other facilities after coming to the Chatralayam.

I would like to assure you all that I will continue to study hard and score high marks. I would like to be a bit frank here. Had I continued to live and study at home, I would have not had a chance to do homework nor have access to after school academic support and other facilities that my Chatralayam currently provides. Had I continued to live at my home, I don’t know whether I would have had the opportunity to pursue my studies after some point, let alone clearing Class 10 with high marks.

The public exams are just 45 days away and I plan to utilise the entire time revising and practising my portions.

I have taken a pledge to get high marks and get the top rank in the board examinations and I will fulfil this resolve of mine. This dream of mine cannot be achieved but for Pujya Swamiji’s blessings, Maa ji’s support and the facilities provided in the Chatralayam. All of this enabled me to focus on my goal.

I would like to share why I took this particular academic pledge. Once we go to school, we have to resolve that we will accomplish something. The honours board in my school has details of student toppers (Class 10 and 12) across the years. And every time I used to walk past it, my heart would fill up with a desire that my name should also appear on this board someday and I would often visualise about this.

I will continue to work hard and my next aim is to target a high rank at the district level and a state first rank in Class 12.

If I am so confident today about achieving academic success, the reason is the AIM for Seva Chatralayam. Had it not been for this hostel intervention, my life would never have been what it is today.”
